Digital Elevation Model of the Altai Mountains, Kharkhiraa uul (Optimus / Power Red / SWW / Warm Color / Hard Color / Color Class / SAT...) The presented image is a visualization of a digital elevation model (DEM) of the Altai Mountains and vicinity (Big Altai Mountains, Altai Mts). This is the result of the interpretation of the land surface radar mapping data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission, SRTM Version 4, 2008) and its subsequent processing using the ArcGIS Desktop v10.3.0. Esri Inc., application tools and also using a graphical editor. Cartographic image: accent / fragment PMM: ArcGIS Desktop v10.3.0. Esri Inc., graphical editor. Thematic layers: high-rise model of the land surface, shadow relief shading Hillshade based on Cluster method modified for slope - Cluster Hillshade (Slope), World Hillshade Dark (Esri, Airbus DS, USGS, NGA, NASA, CGIAR, N Robinson, NCEAS, NLS, OS, NMA, Geodatastyrelsen, Rijkswaterstaat, GSA, Geoland, FEMA, Intermap and the GIS user community), gradient elevation coloring, map design elements. Design version – standard ABSENT / Scale 1:750,000 - 1:55,000, map design elements. Design version – Gold, Scale 1:55,000. New cartographic image. Comment 1. Kharkhiraa (4,040 / 4,036m), a bright mountain range located in the north-east of Big Altai. Kharkhiraa uul belongs to 6 massifs of the Mongolian Altai, the peaks of which exceed 4,000 meters. 2. Compiled from a variety of sources, including contributions from the GIS User Community, the World Hillshade (Dark) map provides a multi-directional terrain hillshade rendering of 24-meter elevation data globally and 10-meter or better in many parts of the world. Inspired by the legendary Swiss artist, Eduard Imhof, multi-directional hillshade maps present unparalleled views of the world’s mountains, plateaus, valleys and canyons by using an algorithm that computes light source from six different directions (as opposed to one direction in a default hillshade). The result is a stunning visualization in both high slope and expressionless areas. This Dark version of our World Hillshade is especially useful in building maps that provide terrain context while highlighting feature layers and labels. 3. Multispectral images that include data outside the human-visible spectrum provide more complete information about the Earth's surface. 4. Design versions when using methods of analytical shadow relief shading, in combination with different types of hypsometric scales. GIS application tools provide researchers with ample opportunities for their interpretation, visualization, creating a more realistic image of the landscape and maps.
